About the lessons
SIMPLIFIED CONTENT • GOAL ORIENTED LESSONS
Finance and accounting for postgraduate, undergraduate, and college courses, and across 5 professional qualifications: ICAEW-ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT, and ICAS.
Teaching method: Simplify
The overall philosophy? Break it down! Complex content is easier to understand in bite-sized pieces.
• Fair Value via Other Comprehensive Income becomes "are we really earning these profits? Will we realize these gains?"
• Net Present Value becomes "how much are we receiving v/s how much are we paying? Is it worth it?"
• Global Minimum Variance Portfolio within Markowitz' Portfolio Optimization model...
...okay some things stay the same
Our work together begins by defining a goal for our lessons - whether that's improving scores, explaining answers more clearly, or gaining a deeper understanding of the subject. We'll chalk up a study plan focused on this goal right at the start, and each subsequent lesson will follow suit.

About duckSoup
SPECIALIST F&A TUTOR • GOLDMAN SACHS ALUMNUS • ACCA AFFILIATE
duckSoup was, and continues to be, inspired by Ms. Taji - my high school accounting teacher.
In one lesson, she simplified the term equity and described it as "the amount owed to the owners of the business". Instantly, accounting clicked - and I was hooked. She completely changed my outlook on the subject.
Hi, I'm Gautam.
My career began with a brief stint at Ernst & Young, before quickly moving into global markets at Goldman Sachs where I worked in equities management. I was able to study accountancy at more advanced levels, conduct research in the field, and work alongside the best in the industry - all because early on, a teacher took a special interest in her subject and her students. She challenged jargon and encouraged logical thinking over rote learning. "Always ask why".
I've now been working as a specialist F&A tutor for half a decade, both independently and at various firms, with the goal of simplifying content. Once it clicks, it becomes fun (pinky promise). Here are my bullets:

Shout Outs
This was the first time we decided to build a website ourselves. Here are some cool people we came across who have taught, and inspired us.
Nick Saporito: For making it incredibly easy to learn about vector graphics and Inkscape so we could design our own logo. This was undoubtedly the most fun.
Sorkin Type Co.: For the Merriweather font; we feel it represents our brand perfectly and were ecstatic when we finally came across it.
